Participatory Design at Human Cities

Micro Lab at Human Cities, Belgium

Human Cities is both a network of practitioners and a series of events assembled around issues in the built environment, focusing especially on public space. Human Cities approaches public space from the perspective of reclamation, celebration and human-centred design. CLEAR VILLAGE conducted a micro-lab on the social function of village squares at the 2010 Human Cities launch event, generating some fantastic ideas about celebrating human interdependence and using the village square as a ‘cultural kitchen’ to facilitate the transfer of intergenerational knowledge. Since conducting the micro-lab, CLEAR VILLAGE has enjoyed a continued collaboration with the Human Cities network.
