Welcome to the CLEAR VILLAGE Observatory
The Observatory drives CLEAR VILLAGE’s research and development. It has two primary purposes: firstly, to enhance knowledge development within our organisation, and to enable us to share our inspiration with others and secondly, to supports our projects by developing relevant case studies to help communities think outside the usual boundaries.
The Observatory aims to keep up to date with the latest thinking on and practice of local initiatives that solve broader societal problems and promote continuous development within communities. Transformation design, well explained by the UK-based Design Council, is an example of one these recent ways of thinking.
Our research responds to societal trends and policies towards more participatory approaches to local policymaking, service-delivery and development (such as the Localism Bill and neighbourhood planning in the UK) and sources case studies from:
+ participatory delivery of (public) services
+ self-generating/ organising communities
+ planning and design for the development of urban and rural communities and place-making initiatives.
