In March 2016 we were out in Somers Town, central London, to collect ideas on how a cargo bike could benefit the local community. We developed the project together with design collective Eclective for our client Cargo Bike Life.

To show how cargo bikes could be used in different ways, we ourselves transformed the bike into a ping pong table, a crepe-kitchen and used it as a pop-up taxi-service. During 4 exciting days, we were out in the community during cycling classes, the local youth club and the local market. On Saturday, we staged an exhibition of the ideas collected at the Somers Town Community Association, and had a feast of crepes made on the Good Bike.

However, the Somers Town locals came up with a range of fascinating ideas themselves as well. Among those were for example the idea to use the bike as a delivery service, as a market stall, a football table and a movable ATM-machine. In the next phase of the project we are going to explore which ideas could be turned into reality and make the Good Bike a common sighting on the streets of Somers Town. Stay tuned!
