Make Helsinki workshop at Helsinki World Design Capital

MAKE.HELSINKI

make.helsinki was a collaborative project between CLEAR VILLAGE and DEMOS Helsinki to explore how participatory public space design can be used in novel ways. It aimed to:
+ Map underused and overlooked spaces in Helsinki
+ Understand how such spaces can be turned into problem-solvers for larger issues
+ Co-design and implement guerilla interventions in Helsinki to showcase the effectiveness and excitement of participatory approaches

Participants identified overlooked spaces where a small intervention might have a large impact in different Helsinki neighbourhoods. They then chose three ideal areas for guerilla action and staged interventions designed to encourage urban play and address serious issues around social service design and bleak post-industrial landscapes in the city centre.
