SMALL WORKS: A NEW PROGRAMME & A NEW RECRUIT

Small Works is slowly getting back to normality with members running projects albeit with restrictions to keep in accordance with COVID guidelines. Our members and their beneficiaries are very happy to continue partaking in activities that are so useful to them.

We are delighted to announce that we have recruited a new member: AY Group Community services. This non-profit organisation delivers food and other basic essentials to those who need it the most in our community.

Over the start of the pandemic, the demand for local food banks had rapidly increased, and they decided to create their own, delivering free food parcels to those that need it. They are currently delivering food (fresh fruit and veg, canned goods, dry perishables), other basic essentials, cleaning products and PPE to low-income families, the elderly, NHS staff; specifically, the frontline workers in hospitals, and care home workers across the community. We are planning to do joint funding applications and projects with the AY Group.

We are kickstarting an IT programme to help Peabody residents and the local community improve their IT skills. We have seen an increase in demand for an IT programme because we are relying more on computers and it is imperative we are equipped with the necessary skills to carry out simple tasks such as booking GP Appointments and keeping in touch with friends and family via online platform. This programme is run by volunteers on a weekly basis.
